ARTIST'S STATEMENT

For the past two years, my work has been focused on forced migration. I use the convenience of crates to tell and explore my personal history laden with forced migration. In my work, I seek to mount an installation that incorporates drawings, performance and sculpture so as to create an experience/s that re-enact personal memories linked to forced migration. Furthermore, what this kind of installation creates is a landscape that actively allows viewers to experience the complex process of memory retrieval and telling. A cocktail of these media of expression permits complex readings that this issue presents in our society today. It is my hope and belief that by complicating this topical issue in this way I will offer fresh insights that will not only challenge old perceptions on the matter but also compliment the lives of the many affected by this issue.
