ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Life is an act of creation. Every moment leaves behind a memory, traces or something tangible or ethereal that refers to it or marks its passage. Either for the self the other or the space within which the former two exists, the life span - permanence or impermanence of what has been created is another matter.
My performances are a method of marking the passage through time and making a mark on time itself. For time is the documentation or record of our planet's movement through the solar system. The interventions on time are done through the conscious use of time, body and mind.
Through the use of the body and the effects that the passage of time has on the body, the body becomes the clock. Where after a certain number of hours the strain of being active through a repeated gesture shows, or through what has been created within that specified period of time. It has been documented that we can add years to our life span by living consciously and healthily. Each performance, its effects and what is produced are a way of accelerating and exaggerating the effects of time.
